Where does the time go!

Where has the last week gone?

As they say, time flies when you are having fun….

This week has been a flurry of averting one disaster after another.  Had a few technical blips with Nicholas of the No Strings Attached series being published, but its done, and now out for all to see in the big bad world…

There is no rest for the wicked 😉 I am well into ripping apart the skellington draft of Mason. The first book in the Exclusively Yours series. I hear you ask, what do you mean skellington? Every writer has their quirks. Mine, my muse is super impatient to get the first draft onto the screen. I miss the days of writing on paper, but I had to be practical, plus I am doing my bit to save the environment! But, as usual I digress.

Skellington draft… I let my muse take over when I start what I would say is the first draft of a book.  My muse always relishes chasing the end of a story. I have learned over the years not to fight her on this. I have been lucky, I have never had to look at a blank screen without being able to put words to it. The thought of writers block terrifies me, so I do not fight my muse in any way, shape, or form. I have had a taste of what my life would be like without words, not a place I would ever wish to visit again!  I have done it again. This is what my muse does when I write….

Skellington draft as I call it, has the bare bones of a plot plus a little more on the screen once my muse fist pumps the air in triumph.

However, that is just the beginning. Now the writer in me takes over as I prepare to do battle with said Muse. Each phase of the book is important to me, what I call the re-writes are where the characters come to life and the conversations flow. *whispers* I love this bit! My muse not so much, as I said, she is impatient 🙄

We have an understanding now, she lets me get stuck into the re-writes and I listen to her and take notes on anything else she comes up with. I can guarantee she will be tapping me on the shoulder and whispering sweet plots into my ear any time now.

I hear Mason calling my name, I had best hustle into my little creative corner and crack on.

Toodles for now, Caroline xoxo
