The Next Big Thing

My wonderful friend Kristie Haigwood contacted me and asked if I’d like to take part in this thing called ‘THE NEXT BIG THING’.

Thank you, Kristie. It is designed to raise awareness of my work, or work in progress. We do that by answering ten questions about it. We graciously thank the person who nominated us, and tag up to five other authors whose work could well be that NEXT BIG THING.
Without further ado, I give you a small taste of me and my characters –

Q#1: What is the title of your book?
It is called Welcome to the Family

Q#2: Where did the idea for the book come from?
I have been for some time completing an on-line creative writers course. Welcome to the family started out as a short story for a part of this course  but the charecters blossomed and the plot grew bigger and bigger and demanded to be a full onnovella it has grown that uch it will be a part of a two book series.

Q#3: What genre does your book fall under?
Hmm…. I think I would put it under the guise of a Paranormal Romance

Q#4: Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
OK this is a hard one as I have images of the characters and I have even looked through and found some pictures for previous blog posts when introducing the characters, but lets see Hmm There are several characters but The following three are quite major players in the book.
Angela Smith AKA Angel I would say Kristen Stewart. Eric Winters Angela’s half brother would have to be Rupert Grint and lastly Jack Jones would have to be Raul Bova.

Q#5: What is the one sentence synopsis for the book?
Will Angela ever find the love and closeness from the family she has always desired but never knew actually existed?

Q#6: Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
I am looking forward to working with the ever so talented Miranda Stork and Moon Rose Publishing.

Q#7: How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
I have not quite finished writing the first draft, as I work and edit at the same time; so far I have been working on Welcome to the Family for the last 4 months.

Q#8: What other books would you compare this story to, in your genre?
Oh my. That’s a hard one to answer and I wouldn’t want to label my work before it has been released. I will leave that one to my readers and when it is published; I would love to hear from you with your thoughts.

Q#9: Who or what inspired you to write this book?
I have always had a love of reading and always had the itch to write. Life has quite often got in the way. However I have had the time over the last few months to try to scratch that itch; so embarked on an adventure into the literary world, that I hope will never finish.

Q#10: What else about the book might pique the readers’ interest?
OK this is a tough one as I have not yet published any of my work.

I will say that my beta readers have enjoyed Welcome to the Family.  I am hoping that when someone is gracious enough to download my book that they will feel like they have made the right decision to check out a new-by writer and will want to read more of my work in the future.

I’d like to pass the torch to Three deserving authors, and let them tell you all about their work. Their posts will bear the same title and will be live on or around 26 November. Here they are:

Amy Lignor

Carol Bond
